KOTA: After getting no support from the Gujarat police in Riddhi Nandwani's murder case in Gandhidham, the family members have now sought help from police in Kota. In support of the family, MP Om Birla has also written to Gujarat chief minister and home minister asking for a speedy enquiry so that the culprits can be punished.
There has been no help given to us by the police in Gujarat, and this is the reason why we had to give a memorandum to IG, Kota on Tuesday asking for his support to help us in the case that took place in Gujarat, said the elder sister Bharti Rajani.
I have also used social media to raise awareness about my sister's murder by her husband Kapil Nandwani, she said. A candle march is planned tomorrow at 7 pm at Sateshwar Mahadev mandir, Talab ki Paal to remember Riddhi and appeal for justice.
Om Birla, MP from Kota-Bundi, has written a letter to Gujarat chief minister and home minister asking for a separate team to be organized to look into the murder of Riddhi Nandwani, and punish the accused. People are very angry about this, said Om Birla. The indifference shown by Gujarat police is also an issue which has angered the public. Seeing people's anger that's more than visible on social media, the Gujarat police have taken Kapil's car into custody, while also having arrested Riddhi's in-laws.
This indifferent attitude of the police is creating a bad impression about governance in Gujarat. Seeing the current status, justice seems a far cry for the affected parties, he said. There should be a high level investigation in the matter and a team must be organized for the same, he added.
Om Birla informed the chief minister that Riddhi Nandwani, daughter of Om Prakash Rajani, resident of Kota, was married to Kapil Nandwani of Gandhidham (Gujarat) on August 28, 2014. The letter mentioned that Kapil had relations with a number of women, according to Riddhi's family members. This was a reason for continuous mental and physical torture for Riddhi since she became aware of the same after just three months of her marriage. She was also being forced to divorce her husband. Riddhi had also registered a case of domestic violence against her husband after which she moved to a working women's hostel.
On a personal level, she is said to have tried to improve her relations with her husband. But on October 1, her husband allegedly took her out with him, after which Riddhi's half burnt body was found the next day at an isolated spot on the highway 15 km from Gandhidham. Kapil has been untraceable ever since.
